ACAT/ACAS Assessment
The provision of Aged Care services starts with an assessment by a skilled person employed by the Department of Health who determines what level and type of care is appropriate at that time. Does the person need ‘at home’ care and at what level - or is entry to permanent residential care more appropriate?
This assessment is fundamental to the provision of care and in the absence of this assessment, a person is unable to be admitted to subsidised care.
< A sample letter is shown here.
The system of providing ‘at home’ care underwent substantial revision late in February 2017. The system provides eligible persons with a ‘voucher’ to use with a provider of their selection at the level authorised by their ACAT/ACAS assessment.
